Research shows that there are foods that make your skin glow and even smoothies that you can drink to help you look vibrant. But what about the other side of the coin? What about foods that without you even knowing it, actually make you look older. Don’t panic, small amounts and moderate enjoyment of these foods aren’t going to cause wrinkles, but overtime, unchecked, over-consumption can actually have a hand in making you look older. Consider cutting back on these foods: 1. Sugar Sugar actually has a degenerative impact on your entire body and overtime this translates to your skin. The problem is sugar can hide in so many places that might surprise you like salad condiments, breakfast cereal, processed nuts and meats, and beverages. 2. Alcohol Too much alcohol damages your DNA and can result in free radicals that cause disease and wrinkles. If you enjoy a drink or two, keep it moderate. No more than one a day for women and two per day for men is the recommendation. 3. Caffeine While small amounts of caffeine can actually be good for your skin, too much is bad for your skin. First of all, it dehydrates your skin which makes wrinkles more visible and second it keeps you up longer than necessary which increases the likelihood that you won’t get enough sleep and your skin will pay the price. 4. Salt Too much salt draws water outside of the cells and dehydrates your skin. It also draws moisture to areas of the skin like under the eyes, causing bags under eyes. Reduce puffiness using ingredients like witch hazel and cucumber extract. Avoiding these four foods will not help you look younger, but they do contribute to making you look older. Foods rich in anti-oxidants such as beans, blueberries and cranberries are recommended to helping you prolong your youthful look. Sara Novak is a Natural Health Care Expert for Zax Health.
