Skincare products are important for anti-aging--from cleansers to toners and moisturizers. But an eye cream is also an important aspect of your daily skincare regimen. What do you need to know about your eye cream? Lets dig a little deeper into this important aspect of age prevention.

Eye Cream: 4 Things You Need to Know

1. It’s never too early to get started. It’s never too early to start using an eye cream because it’s all about prevention. The earlier you add an eye cream to your anti-aging skincare routine, the less fine lines and wrinkles you’ll notice as you age. But at the same time, if you’ve been putting off using an eye cream, it’s also never too late to get started because protecting this highly sensitive part of your skin is so important. 2. Apply with your ring finger. Your ring finger is the weakest of all your fingers therefore it's the least likely to tug at your skin. Start at the inner corner of your eye and gently massage outward until you’ve applied to the entire under eye area. Apply either just before bedtime or before you apply your under eye concealer in the morning. 3. Store in the refrigerator. Storing your eye cream in the refrigerator makes it even better for soothing tired eyes. On days when your eyes look extra tired, apply spoons cooled in the refrigerator or cooled cucumber slices (for about 10 minutes) before applying your cooled eye cream. 4. Choose a gentle eye cream. Again, your under eye area is super sensitive, so using fragrance free products is a good option. Choose an eye cream that addresses your specific needs like puffiness, dark circles, wrinkles, or generally firming, for example. If your eye concerns are allergy related, try an over-the-counter anti-histamine in addition to your gentle eye cream. Additionally, try a natural eye cream made with caffeine and cucumber extract.
