Your feet are very important and carry you throughout your daily tasks. They support your bodies structure from your legs to your head. Therefore, problems with your feet can negatively affect your whole body. Be kind to your feet and show them some care and support by trying some of these home remedy tips to keep them in tip top shape.
Tip #1: Practice stretches and foot exercises – Stretching exercises can help sore feet and promote flexibility. Try simple ones such as pointing and flexing your toes and moving your ankles in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. Walking regularly for exercise is the best way to keep your feet strong. Check out these additional exercises.
Tip #2: Give yourself a foot massage – Massaging your feet can help relieve soreness and improves circulation in your feet. This is something great to do at the end of the night and can be a great way to help your whole body unwind. Use your favourite lotion and work with your hands from your toes to your heels.
Tip #3: Check your shoes – Make sure that your shoes aren’t the reason you’re experiencing foot pain. Shoes, especially running shoes and sneakers don’t last forever. Make sure you’re wearing well fitted shoes that have good arch-support most of the time. Add some cushioning to your shoes if needed to help treat foot soreness and prevent inflammation.
Tip #4: Apply a healing cream – A medicated cream or ointment that can be purchased at your local pharmacy or natural health store can help with foot pain. Look for ones made with natural pain-relieving ingredients such as arnica, devil’s claw and menthol. Icing is also known to help reduce inflammation in the foot that may be causing soreness.
Tip #5: When to see a doctor – Injury and overuse are common reasons for sore feet. However, it’s important to know why your feet are sore. Make sure to contact your Doctor if you’re having severe foot pain, can’t walk, extreme swelling or numbness or suspect a serious foot condition.
