Have you ever noticed that when you wake up in the morning you’re thirsty, your lips are chap, and your skin seems dull? That’s because you lose a lot of moisture while you sleep. You’re often sleeping under covers which keep your body warm and toasty. At the same time, the air in your bedroom is cooler. As a result, the air you inhale is warmed up in your lungs, taking moisture away from the rest of your body. And in the winter time, the air in your home can be even drier than usual. That’s why extra care needs to be taken to protect your skin while you sleep. 1. Add a humidifier. Start by adding moisture or humidity to the air in your bedroom with the help of a humidifier. In the colder months, they can be especially helpful because the winter air doesn’t hold moisture. 2. Use a night moisturizer. At night, you may need a more intense, deeper moisturizer to make up for the moisture lost while you sleep.  A daytime moisturizer tends to be light, but a nighttime moisturizer is thicker to give more hydration to the skin. This means that you may need a moisturizer for during the day and another for during the night. 3. Try a deep hydration sleeping mask. Consider adding a deep hydration sleeping mask to your beauty regimen at least a few times per week. Sleeping masks are made with hydrating oils and other natural ingredients like chestnut and apricot extracts as well as rose oil. Take a few extra steps to keep your skin hydrated while you sleep so that when you wake up it looks hydrated and radiant. Sara Novak is a Natural Health Care Expert for Zax Health.
