Sometimes we take our feet for granted and it’s not until after they start to ache that we realize how much they carry us through our runs. For those that love to hit the pavement with a daily run, it’s important to treat your feet with the same care that you treat the rest of your body. Here are some easy tips for keeping your tootsies in tip top condition. 1. Soak your feet. After a long day on your feet, consider a warm soak in Epsom salts. The magnesium in bath salts helps to soften the skin and loosen tense muscles in the feet. Not to mention that the salt will also relieve inflammation and soreness. Add 1 cup of Epsom salts to a warm bath and soak for at least 15 minutes. 2. Pamper your feet with a foot massage. -Start by stroking the calves and feet in long downward movements. Gently move across the skin to increase blood flow. -Work the inner sole of your foot, keeping your fingers behind and your thumbs on the inner soles of your feet. Push in a circular motion upwards. -Use acupressure points along the inner arch of your foot. Push down, holding for three seconds and then moving a few inches along the arch to another acupressure point. Move from just above the ankle all the way to the ball of your foot. -Work the top of your foot, pressing downward and moving toward your toes along the veins of your foot. -Start on your other foot. Taking about five minutes on each one before switching. 3. Soothe your tired feet. If your feet are sore and achy, why not try Zax’s Original Heelspur Cream? It works for heel pain caused by shin splints, plantar fasciitis, achilles injuries, and morton’s neuroma. It has a number of natural ingredients that relieve inflammation like ginger, devil’s claw, and menthol. Take care of your feet and they will take care of you.
