Facial Tools: How To Use Facial Rollers and Gua Sha Stones

So, you purchased for yourself a Facial Roller and/or Gua Sha Stone, but now what? How do you actually use these tools to get optimal results?

These beautiful Jade and Rose Quartz skincare tools go back centuries in Chinese Medicine. Facial Rollers help to promote lymphatic drainage - the process of pushing fluids to your lymph nodes which then filters it out of your system. Facial rolling enhances circulation in your face while decreasing puffiness. Gua Sha Stones aid in reducing the signs of aging and provide relief from pain by focusing on a deeper facial massage. The Gua Sha technique firms the look of skin, increases blood circulation, and reduces swelling and inflammation.

Now that we know the background information, let’s get into the good stuff.

How To Use Facial Rollers & Tips:

The Facial Roller is dual ended, with one small stone and one large stone. The small stone should be used around the sensitive area of your eyes to reduce dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles. Before use, prepare your skin with an eye cream and then gently roll from the inner corner of your eye out. The large stone can be used on the rest of your face. It is important to always begin with your neck area and roll in an upward and out direction, always away from the center of your face. Remember to clean and towel dry your Facial Roller after each use.

How To Use Gua Sha Stones & Tips:

Holding the Gua Sha with the curved side towards your face, gently glide it in an up and out direction starting from your neck and chin, and outwards towards your jaw line. With a light touch, glide it across your cheeks and then gently under your eyes. You can also sweep the tool across your eyebrows and from the middle of your forehead to your hairline on either side of your face. As with the Facial Roller, your Gua Sha needs to be cleaned and dried after each use.

How Often Should I Use These Tools?

It is recommended to do these types of treatments a few times a week to help improve overall health and well-being while helping your skin absorb topical creams, lotions, and serums. We recommend using the Gua Sha stone with Zax's Facial Redness Cream to reduce redness and improve skin tone or Zax’s Dark Circle Eye Cream with the Facial Roller for help with puffiness and undereye bags.

It’s time to get rolling and gliding with these two skincare tools!
