New Skincare Tips To Deal With The Changing Weather

Just because the seasons change, doesn’t mean that your skin’s radiance and glow have to. No matter the season there are things you can do to prepare your skin for the affect that weather changes can have on it.

Notice how your skin reacts: As the seasons change it is important to notice how your skin reacts. When it’s warm and humid one day and then cool and dry another, your skin has to keep up with the effect of these environmental changes. Modifying your skincare routine based on the season can be helpful to maintaining your skin’s health.

Keep your skin clean: Shorter days and cooler temperatures can take a toll on your skin making it dry and itchy. Wash your face at least twice a day to unclog your pores using a gentle and mild cleanser. To help deal with skin irritations, use face and body soaps that are made without harsh chemicals and fragrance-free.

Keep your skin hydrated: When the weather goes from warm to cold, the humidity of the air tends to drop causing the oil and moisture of your skin to lessen. Hydration is the key to keeping the skin nourished and moisturized.

Change up your face and body moisturizer, especially at nighttime as the seasons change. In the summer months it’s recommended to use a lightweight lotion while in the winter months a heavier cream can give your skin that boost in moisture it needs.  Also remember to drink plenty of water too! Hydrating your body from the inside is not only good for your overall health but your skin too!

Avoid hot baths and showers: Hot water can strip your skin’s protective layer; therefore, it is recommended to take lukewarm baths and showers. Gently pat yourself dry and don’t forget to moisturize. When your skin is dry, avoid using exfoliating scrubs which can cause further irritation. If your skin is really dry and irritated sprinkle some crushed oatmeal in your bath for some soothing relief.

Don't skip out on sunscreen: Sunscreen not only protects the skin from the sun’s UV rays, but it also acts as a barrier between the skin and the outer weather. No matter what the temperature is outdoors, it is recommended to use sunscreen daily all year long. The sun’s rays are so strong these days, they can even affect your skin through the clouds.
